Liturgical Ministry :: Celebrating the Sacrament of Marriage
The family of Saint Joseph Parish rejoices and offers its congratulations as you journey toward the celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage.
We welcome the responsibility of sharing in your preparation, not only for your wedding day, but also for years of happy married life.
Both of you, being important and special members of the family of God, are seeking to be married in Christ Jesus at Saint Joseph Parish. As members of the Church we believe that a marriage is a covenant, a commitment of love where you offer your entire lives, in all dimensions, to each other. This love of a couple must reflect the love that Jesus has for us his people – constant, eternal and self sacrificing.
This sacramental relationship begins the moment you exchange your vows. The Lord enters your covenant of marriage with a commitment of his own – to be with you always in your married life. A Christian marriage is your profession of faith in the covenant love of God and one another.
Our parish marriage program is designed to help you to be ready spiritually to live the sacrament of marriage. We pray that we can share your love and joy in the months ahead.
Couples are asked to contact Saint Joseph Parish (781-585-6679) at least one year in advance of the date on which you wish to be married. As you prepare at some length to receive the Sacraments of Eucharist, Penance and Confirmation, you must now prepare to receive the Sacrament of Marriage.
A Sacrament is an efficacious sign of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us.
Our Christian faith is our way of life with Christ. If you haven’t been living out your faith in recent years, your desire to be married must be accompanied by prayer, worship and participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
The Church asks that couples seeking the Sacrament of Marriage to undergo instruction in the meaning of love, the nature of Christian marriage as it is lived from day to day, and the understanding of the Sacrament of Marriage.
A weekend Vicariate cluster Marriage Preparation program is offered in the early Spring each year.
